Alright, so the past couple of months have been really weird. Life has been doing that thing that life does and I've been in and out of commission over the last few months. I love streaming, I love making music and making videos and making wEiRd StUfF but I've had to worry about myself primarily, and that's what I've been doing. If you've been around for a while you know I try to keep my personal issues out of the spotlight because I don't want to come off as complain'y and I don't want to burden any of you with issues that on all accounts shouldn't be yours to have to deal with. So I've just kinda been here, working on work stuff and trying to get stuff in my life sorted out.
Bearing that in mind, I'm probably going to be moving before I have a chance to knock out that cosplay stream. It is definitely still at the forefront of my mind when it comes to streaming, but I'll touch base on where we actually are on that whenever I get settled into the new place. I've moved a lot, and I settle fast, so... expect that to come soon'ish.
I'm also considering adjusting the server structure a bit, depending on how the prune goes - how many users end up getting removed, how active each channel looks, etc. I feel that some of the channels have fallen out of relevancy a bit (again - mostly my bad) but I'm hesitant to remove anything before we know where we stand after removing some of the inactive users. Thoughts? Lemme know.
I just wanted to give a heads up about the fact that I have started on the next update for the bossfight system. Expect a full update on the update in a separate post, but as for what I'm working on right now:
Keep in mind: I have been designing this system to scale up to level 100, and I've got most of the actual bosses and enemy info planned out. I've got a direction for the lore and how I'd like to approach balance. I was mostly just hoping to approach raising the level cap and releasing new enemies expansion-style with one big content drop once or twice a year alongside some of the more major updates that include other game modes or features. But one thing that I realized earlier today is that I could focus on doing smaller, iterative updates more often. Instead of raising the level cap in large chunks (25, 50, 75, 100) I could raise it in smaller amounts with each minor update. The upside to this method would be that new content is available more regularly, but the downside would be that many releases won't have much in the way of associated achievements.
What do you think? I've put together a strawpoll and I'd like to get your input here. Let me know your thoughts!
I'm moving... again
Yup. My landlords have elected to sell the place that I'm living in rather than renting it to me (as is totally their right to do), and have given me notice about it. I'm happy to report that I've got a plan, I've got a new place sorted out that I'll be moving to, and I've just been trying to put in a lot of work hours to make sure that the move goes smoothly. Once I'm in the new place I can't guarantee that my availability will be any better for doing the content things (though I certainly would like that to be the case). I definitely do plan on showing off the new space to everyone though, and will definitely set things up in the new place to do content things that haven't been possible before. I'm really excited about it, but I'm mostly still waiting to see how it pans out.Bearing that in mind, I'm probably going to be moving before I have a chance to knock out that cosplay stream. DISCORD. It ded.
During the Plains of Eidolon streams we got a really massive surge in growth in the discord. Since then (largely because of my own lack of availability), the discord server has gotten a lot more quiet. Owning that - that's my b. So, I'm calling it. After speaking with the mod team, we've decided that we're going to be removing a bit of the bloat in there and will be pruning inactive members. We will be pruning on Dec 1st, and will be removing anyone that hasn't posted in the last 30 days. So if you want to make sure you stay ahead of the curve on that one, go do some post.I'm also considering adjusting the server structure a bit, depending on how the prune goes - how many users end up getting removed, how active each channel looks, etc. I feel that some of the channels have fallen out of relevancy a bit (again - mostly my bad) but I'm hesitant to remove anything before we know where we stand after removing some of the inactive users. Tutorials are coming
I've gotten a fair number of requests to do OBS tutorials, fractal tutorials, etc... so I'm opening up a new public youtube channel for answering questions and posting tutorials that are requested by twitch subscribers/patrons. I just thought you should know - that's a thing I'm working on. I'm pretty serious about it, but don't have any details to share yet other than the fact that I'm starting off with a tutorial about how I do my factals. I'll post more info as soon as it's ready.Bossfights - Update incoming!
I just wanted to give a heads up about the fact that I have started on the next update for the bossfight system. Expect a full update on the update in a separate post, but as for what I'm working on right now:
- Implement a wik/codex that communicates the mechanics clearly and completely
- Iron out a few of the more egregious balance issues (bruiser, elementalist, rogue - I'm looking at you)
- Implement a few starter "unique classes"
- Set up a codex for boss/enemy info and lore exposure
- Raise the level cap and introduce more bosses and enemies.
Keep in mind: I have been designing this system to scale up to level 100, and I've got most of the actual bosses and enemy info planned out. I've got a direction for the lore and how I'd like to approach balance.
